Cheer Fort Lauderdale is a vibrant 501(c)(3) nonprofit cheerleading organization composed of dedicated LGBTQ+ and ally adults. Since our inception, we have actively engaged with South Florida’s community, performing at events and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Our mission is to empower and uplift LGBTQ+ youth through cheerleading, fundraising, and community engagement. We aim to create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and bring joy, unity, and acceptance to the forefront.
Founded by Aleksandr Dissan, who faced homelessness and discrimination after being kicked out of his home for being gay, Cheer Fort Lauderdale is a testament to resilience and community support. Aleksandr’s experience with critical community programs inspired him to give back and positively impact LGBTQ+ youth.
We are committed to raising funds for organizations like SunServe, which provides essential services to LGBTQ+ youth, including free counseling, therapy, and activities. Last season, we proudly raised over $4,000 for SunServe and aim to surpass that amount this season.
Our key initiatives include spreading joy and acceptance through energetic performances, partnering with local organizations to foster inclusivity, supporting organizations that provide vital services for LGBTQ+ youth, and participating in beach cleanups and service days to give back.
Commitment, communication, and charity are at the core of everything we do. We uphold high standards of respect, integrity, and professionalism, expecting the same from our team members. Our goal is to be positive ambassadors for the LGBTQ+ community both on and off the field.
