About CHEP Uganda
CHEP is a community outreach aimed at alleviating the plight of low-income communities in Uganda. It particularly intends to improve access to health care services through mobile clinics, provide effective and efficient health care to the growing population of children in Uganda, create awareness through health education, as well as mentorship for the medical students through shared experiences and practical lessons ultimately bridging the human resource gap in Uganda’s Health Care system. Dr Irene Kyamummi is a medical professional working at Mulago, Uganda’s National Referral Hospital. She studied medicine at Makerere University and devoted herself to the development of projects in support of the underprivileged. In 2019, she founded CHEP- Uganda. In Kenya, CHEP has, in a period of two years benefited more than 5,000 children in Limuru area and aspires to double the number in Uganda. Dr. Kyamummi Irene hopes to partner with like-minded people towards utilizing resources pooled collectively to push the CHEP agenda of providing equitable health care to the most vulnerable populations in Uganda.
