Cheshire Cat Pubs and Bars was founded in 2008 by Tim Bird and Mary McLaughlin. Tim was formerly part of famous pub entrepreneur, Michael Cannon’s management team turning round the fortunes of Pub companies such as Morrells of Oxford and Eldridge Pope.
He was more recently MD of Brunning and Price and the Freehouse Pub Company within the Restaurant Group. Tim’s early career saw him work for Berni Steak houses, JA Devenish and Greenalls Pub Company.
Mary was formerly MD of La Tasca and grew the Spanish restaurant chain from three to over seventy restaurants nationwide. Prior to this Mary was with both Greenalls and Devenish Pub Companies having spent her early career with Disney and Harrods.
It has been named as ‘Pub Group of the Year 2016/17’ by the prestigious Good Pub Guide. The award follows a string of successes for the company over the year including being chosen as the Best Drinks Act in the UK at the Publican Awards in London
Cheshire Cat currently operate seven famous pubs. All of which originally were either closed or on the verge of closure. Cheshire cat enjoy the challenge of restoring beautiful pubs that many would consider to be lost causes.
