China Array Plastics, founded in 2006, is a US owned, ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100C (aerospace/automotive) certified, full service injection molder specializing in high performance and ultra polymers with engineering offices in Pittsfield, MA and a wholly owned injection molding and tooling facility in Wuhan, China.
Costing 5 to 50 times more than standard plastics, high performance thermoplastics possess unique properties that fill unique niches in a range of industries: aerospace, medical, electronics, oil & gas, semiconductors, wireless, alternative energy, and others.
The chemical complexity, extremely high melt temperatures (three to five times greater than commodity plastics) and unusual molding characteristics of high performance polymers (HPP) require HPP engineering and processing expertise, high heat tool making capability, and specialized resin preparation and processing equipment.
China Array, built from the ground up to mold high performance and ultra polymers, has engineered dozens of applications (see publications), built 100+ molds, and molded millions of parts (107 separate SKU's) that are delivered worldwide.
Due to their high cost, high performance polymer (HPP) components are virtually always mission critical. OEM's are willing to pay a premium to insure that a polymer's properties are fully realized in the finished good. A quality HPP molder is a bridge between OEM customers and the resin manufacturers.
China Array has established rigorous and consistent quality control systems. The firm is ISO 9001:2016 & AS9100C (aerospace) Certified, and is one of three certified Torlon molders in China: one of 54 worldwide.
Torlon is a remarkable material with the highest strength of any thermoplastic, continuous use temperatures of up to 275°C (525°F) and friction coefficients similar to Teflon without PTFE additives. Torlon requires specialized equipment, molds, processing and curing expertise for production. Hence the certification requirements.
