On September 7th, 2021, vaulted El Salvador came into the international spotlight as the first country to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender. They chose Athena Bitcoin Global to build and roll out the "Chivo Ecosystem" (Wallet/ATMs/Chivo POS) for the El Salvadorian government Law Bitcoin 2021. In 40 days, millions of El Salvadorans successfully went from being unbanked to financially empowered; 200 Chivo ATMs were installed in El Salvador, 55 Chivo ATMs were installed in the USA, and 950 Chivo POS were provided to Law Bitcoin enforced.
