About Christodora: Nature, Learning, Leadership
Christodora transforms lives through environmental education by building leadership skills and academic success through an awareness and understanding of the natural environment. We provide an opportunity for New York City students to engage with nature through hands-on learning, outdoor programs, and scientific exploration. We were founded in 1897 as a settlement house in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, providing the local immigrant population with health services, educational and job training programs, and other social services. Today, after 125 years, we continue to grow, to evolve, and to help our city’s youth grow into leaders and stewardship-minded leaders ready to change the world.
