About Chronic Poverty Advisory Network
CPAN (Chronic Poverty Advisory Network) is an international network of researchers working to understand poverty dynamics in low and middle income countries. We work for a mix of country governments, bilateral and multilateral donors and international NGOs on both short term projects and multi-year, multi-country programmes. Our research toolbox includes the use of mixed methods research, sequencing and combining quantitative and qualitative analysis. Our analysis explores long term change, seeking to understand what makes people poor, what keeps them in poverty and what enables sustained poverty escapes. We provide clear and practical evidence based policy advice to governments and the international development community to support progressive change. CPAN produces a range of research outputs, including working papers, policy briefs and books. We host conferences and public meetings, webinars and face-to-face policy engagement meetings.
