Chup, Go Vote!

Chup means “shut up” or “be quiet” in many South Asian languages. Through our name, we want to emphasize the importance of just showing up to the polls. Voting is the most fundamental form of voice; its significance spans far beyond the ballot. All our initiatives are tied together by the power to vote. We advocate for issues and support communities so that people find meaning in showing up to the polls and believe that their vote matters. Through Chup, Go Vote! we aim to empower people beyond the ballot. We aim to show that there is power in educated activism and meaningful advocacy. We want to promote responsible decision-making based on factual and honest voter education. We want both citizens and non-citizens to understand their vital roles in our democracy. While non-citizens may not be able to vote, they can still advocate for candidates who prioritize the issues that impact them. We want to shed light on the voices of the unheard, the issues that are often overlooked because of the “model minority” stereotype. We want break religions barriers and bring people from different walks of life together to celebrate our rich South Asian culture and newfound American identities. We aim to bridge gaps and in access to voter education resources so that every eligible South Asian voter can make their voice heard. So what are you waiting for, Chup, Go Vote!
