CIDI is a local national NGO that was founded in 1996 in Uganda.
We are driven by our mission in promoting sustainable community livelihoods in Uganda through; Income and Food Security, Water and Sanitation, Good Health, and Policy advocacy.
Our vision is communities enjoying a decent life free of hunger, poverty, and disease.
We work towards this goal through our 5 thematic areas of Water and Sanitation (WASH), Health Promotion, Sustainable Agriculture, Policy Advocacy, and CIDI training center for Gardening and Landscaping.
CIDI’s head office is in Muyenga, Kampala but has several offices (in charge of their own programs) in different districts in Uganda:
North East: Amuria, Katakwi, Napak, Soroti, Moroto and Nakapiripirit. The programs in these areas mainly focus on sustainable agriculture, policy and advocacy, and conflict resolution & peacebuilding.
Central: Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, Mubende, Mityana, Kayunga, Masaka and Luweero. In the capital city, CIDI implements primarily water and sanitation projects. In the other central districts, the different projects centre around health care promotion.
South West: Rakai, Nakasongola, Isingiro, Buliisa, Mubende and Rubirizi. In this part of Uganda CIDI’s main attention goes to improving the livelihood of farmers and Health Promotion.
