Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), headquartered in the United Kingdom, is a professional body for housing managers. It actively advises governments on housing management policies, promotes the code of ethics among housing practitioners, educates and nurtures housing professionals, and works to advance the development of the profession. With the primary aim to promote the art and science of housing, the CIH offers training programs, provides professional advice and disseminates technical information to its members and the public. It serves as a common platform for members of its branches to exchange views and to share experience in housing management with related organisations. The Hong Kong Branch of the Institute was established in 1966 under the Societies Ordinance. In January 2023, it aligned its English name to the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch to correspond to its Chinese name 「特許房屋經理學會亞太分會」. In 2020, the CIHAPB was confirmed among the first batch of ‘recognised professional bodies’ in Hong Kong, demonstrating its leading position in the industry. The CIH has more than 17,000 members worldwide, with over 3,400 from the APB. Members work predominately in government housing authorities, educational institutions, private corporations and nongovernmental organisations in both the UK and the Asia-Pacific region. Professional qualifications validated by the CIH are widely recognised by both the public and private sectors in the UK and Hong Kong.
