Founded in 2017 by ophthalmic surgeon and inventor Dr. Philippe Sourdille and Olivier Benoit, a veteran engineer and biotech entrepreneur, CILIATECH developed the CID (Cilio-scleral Inter-positioning Device) groundbreaking concept
‘CID’ is the first implant in the industry to reduce IntraOcular Pressure (IOP) without needing to access the anterior chamber or create a subconjunctival filtration bleb. The device is implanted as a standalone procedure and in the latest trial has demonstrated efficacy in IOP lowering in both open angle glaucoma (POAG) and in narrow angle glaucoma - the latter is a real industry first. Implantation can be combined with cataract removal too. The company is located near Annecy, France - a beautiful region in the Western Alps which has been described as ‘the Alpine Venice’
