Circula-TEX

Circula-TEX is a Horizon Europe project that aims to support the EU strategy for Sustainability and Circular Textiles. The project seeks to redesign textile value chains by developing circular economy strategies aligned with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies. Through an international consortium of 19 partners from Italy, Belgium, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Denmark, Circula-TEX addresses key challenges in the textile supply chain. The project analyzes current shortcomings, assesses the effectiveness of EPR systems, and proposes innovative solutions to improve textile recycling and reuse. The main areas of intervention include: •⁠ ⁠Eco-design and sustainability, with strategies to facilitate the design of products that are easier to recycle and reuse. •⁠ ⁠⁠Traceability and material identification, through the development of an advanced labeling system aligned with the Digital Product Passport and the ESPR regulation. •⁠ ⁠⁠Harmonization of EPR policies across Europe, with the definition of management models that can be replicated in different Member States. •⁠ ⁠⁠Stakeholder engagement, including producers, recyclers, retailers, and policymakers, to support the development of concrete and scalable solutions. Circula-TEX goes beyond theoretical research by testing and validating its solutions through real-world case studies, experimenting with new models for textile waste collection, recycling, and management across different market segments in Europe. The project aims to make the textile sector more transparent, responsible, and sustainable, generating both environmental and economic benefits.
