About Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC)
Given its immense material footprint, contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, and impact on human wellbeing, the built environment is a key leverage point in achieving the goals put forward in the Paris Agreement as well as many other sustainability objectives. Together we are leading the way to a circular built environment. CBC is a collaboration that convenes industry and thought leaders who aim to accelerate the implementation of circular economy solutions as a way of creating a global built environment that operates within planetary boundaries while ensuring a just transition. Join us in accelerating the transition towards a circular built environment in Europe. At CBC, we bring together built environment stakeholders to overcome barriers and embrace circular economy practices. Why does the CBC exist? The challenges of transitioning to a circular economy in the built environment are vast, with roots at local, national, and European levels. However, many impact-driven organizations worldwide are already addressing these challenges. As a coalition, we aim to amplify their efforts and lead the way forward. To move forward, CBC has a clear roadmap with the following missions: • Creating a common language, skills, and knowledge base around how a circular economy in the built environment can help achieve our climate goals while delivering value to businesses. • Increasing demand for circular economy solutions with the key stakeholders in the built environment. • Realising increased collaboration across the value chain between established high-impact actors, and front-runner organisations, that might not otherwise occur. • Promoting the development and uptake of scalable solutions and best practices that address systemic challenges in a transition to a circular built environment. CBC is a partnership between Arup, Circle Economy Foundation, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Metabolic, WBCSD and WorldGBC, powered by Smith Innovation and funded by Laudes Foundation.
