Citadel Structures is a company formed to pursuit BIM/IDP (Building Information Model (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects in the area of civil and structural construction. The primary software for modeling is Tekla Structures.
Concept:
1. The Citadel Structures starts with by building 3D computer model of the structural system early in the design process and includes the integration of concrete, steel and precast in the model. From this model all “shop drawings” would be developed. This allows Citadel to purchase the components as commodities and clearly defines its scope of work for category materials or subcontractors.
2. The ability to workout construction related interferences in the model before actual fabrication and/or construction reduces the potential of cost escalation.
3. General Contractors have desire to reduce their risk of “scope gap”. By incorporating the structural scope as one contract it reduces the omission risk and reduces the project management staff required by the GC/CM.
4. With BIM/IPD there will be a trend for groups of companies to loosely unite as a Team and move from project to project together. Citadel Structures combines both concrete and steel to provide a turnkey structural frame and if requested will include civil structures and other infrastructures.
