Clear and Fair

Clear and Fair is a not for profit data privacy lobby group. Our mission is to bring simplification and standardisation to privacy terms and conditions and to introduce a traffic light type labelling standard to terms and conditions. Consumers aren't apathetic to data privacy - there are protections in place - the protections just need enforcing in the right way. Companies aren't deliberately misleading consumers - they just need help balancing compliance and consent with transparency and clarity. There is a role for Government to help consumers by designing standard data protection terms and conditions, and encouraging companies to adopt standard private data consent agreements. We propose a red, amber, green labelling system, and clear "fact summary" similar to what we have for food labelling.
