We are committed to tackling the climate crisis starting right here at our own University, because we firmly believe that change can begin at the local level and ripple out globally. We are students, researchers, and alumni of the University of Trento, and we have three key objectives, our 3Ts: 1. Transparency: It's impossible to envision decarbonization without precise data on our current climate impact. The first and most crucial step towards decarbonization is measuring greenhouse gas emissions and sharing the results. We urge the University of Trento to commit to providing accurate data that can guide informed decisions. We also call for a clear decarbonization plan with a deadline and budget. 2. Transformation: To combat climate change, we are determined to start by transforming our university. We ask the University of Trento to take significant steps in reducing emissions in key areas: - Energy consumption: Embrace renewable energy sources and enhance energy efficiency. - University canteens: Rethink menus for sustainability, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact. - Transportation: Promote greener commuting options and adopt eco-friendly transportation solutions for both daily commutes and academic travel. 3. Transmission: Education is the foundation of change. We call on the University of Trento to strengthen climate education in university programs. Raising awareness about the climate crisis and its solutions must be a priority for Italian universities. Our approach to climate activism is research-based. We engage in constructive dialogues with the UniTrento administration to find tangible solutions. We are making a difference, starting here in Trento and spreading our impact.
