Climate-i

Climate-i is working to reduce the world's fastest growing and most potent emissions: fluorinated gases (F-gases). F-gases are a family of chemicals that play a critical role in cooling, refrigeration, electricity systems and electronics manufacture globally. But they are extremely potent greenhouse gases, often 1000s of times more warming than CO2, and make up around 5% of C02 equivalent emissions each year - more than those from global aviation. Climate-i is developing F-gas capture technology to help companies prevent emissions. We are starting by tackling emissions of sulfur/sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) from electricity grids. SF6 is 24,300x as harmful as CO2, and lasts over 1,000 years in the atmosphere. To date, its emissions have tracked growth in the electricity grid. We want to break that link, ensuring that the future power grid really will be net zero.
