The research group Climate Stress Lab investigates the ecophysiology and ecotoxicology of terrestrial invertebrates, with a focus on climatic and chemical stress adaptation.
The group is led by Professor Martin Holmstrup and Senior scientist Stine Slotsbo both with long-standing interest in how soil animals survive frost and drought. The group's research aims to understand the physiological and molecular mechanisms behind stress adaptations in a variety of ectothermic invertebrates, including earthworms, enchytraeids, collembolans, slugs, mites etc.
The group's work is important because it helps us to understand how terrestrial invertebrates are responding to climate change and other environmental stressors. This knowledge is essential for developing conservation strategies and mitigating the negative impacts of human activity on soil ecosystems.
