The Climate and Sport Initiative

The very first sports were played outdoors. Skating on frozen ponds, running through grassy meadows, and swimming in the waves, our forefathers invented incredible games that keep us coming back for more to this day. Even with today’s wealth of entertainment, it’s hard to compete with the unbridled joy of playing your favourite sport with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. The sad truth is outdoor sports are under threat. Local hockey rinks have closed for good due to warm weather. Soccer games are cancelled due to extreme heat. Snow needs to be transported by helicopter to ensure the Winter Olympics can continue. But this doesn’t have to be the way forward. Together, we can beat climate change. Together, we can protect our favourite sports for future generations. The Climate and Sports Initiative will bring star athletes, sports enthusiasts, and sustainability experts together to tackle the greatest challenge of our time. Let’s stick it to climate change!
