ClimateKeys

At ClimateKeys, we believe climate change solutions should be at the heart of all human activity. Our framework creates a unique space inviting all actors into this arena by placing climate conversations at the centre of musical concerts. ClimateKeys, which began during October 2017 and continues into 2018, was founded by composer pianist Lola Perrin. It is based on her UK touring project where a piano performance and a talk by a guest speaker is followed by an audience conversation about positive response to climate change. Enthusiastic response inspired her to encourage more musicians around the world to work with guest speakers in order to greatly increase the number of conversations about climate change that she was able to achieve on her own. During October-November 2017, 34 concerts in 9 countries raised public engagement with COP23, triggering some 4,000 conversations. It's widely accepted that we must increase our ambition to decarbonise if we are to keep the temperature to a safe level. It's also widely accepted that business as usual cannot continue, that we must find ways to bring the vital task of facing climate change head-on into our everyday lives and increase the speed of transition. ClimateKeys concerts place these conversations in all types of spaces across the world; community spaces, concert halls, educational establishments and businesses.
