CLIP Energy

We are CLIP. We are a group of Imperial College Design Engineering students concerned by the cost of living crisis and, more specifically, our soaring energy bills. We know we aren't the only ones. In October 2022, National Energy Action estimated 4.5M UK households were unable to afford to heat their home. Now they estimate this has escalated to 6.7 million households and that, by April, this will sit at 8.4 million households. We believe adequate heating is a basic human need and, during this cost of living crisis, know many consumers are struggling to identify the areas of excessive electricity usage where they can cut down most. So, we created CLIP. CLIP is a device and compatible app which provides you with a breakdown of your electricity usage by appliance. By providing an easy way to track their electricity usage, we equip you with the knowledge of what behavioural changes you can make to reduce their usage and make your bills more affordable. CLIP takes the guess work out of identifying the necessary steps you need to take to meet your personal energy spending targets, with the aim of reducing the burden of trial-and-error and accelerating results.
