CNC at the San Andrés University studies neurocognitive aspects of language and social skills in healthy and clinical populations. Our mission is to advance brain understanding through high-impact research, scientific mentorship and translational, innovation. We do this by integrating behavioral tasks, automated speech analysis and natural language processing with electrophysiological methods, structural and functional neuroimaing intracranial recordings and non-invasive brain stimulation. The CNC specializes in the neuroscience of embodied and situated cognition. Our work revolves around seven key areas: language and language markers of neurodegeneration, multilingualism, embodied cognition, socio-emotional processes in neurodegenerative conditions, brain abnormalities in healthy and pathological aging, intracranial signatures of cognition, and childhood cognition.
