CNR - ISM Institute of Structure of Matter

The mission of ISM-CNR focuses on both fundamental and applied research in the science of materials and technologies of matter. The activity of the Institute concentrates on design, synthesis and analysis of both well-established and new functional nano-, micro-, macro-scale materials to understand their complex properties and to develop frontier scientific concepts enabling sustainable technologies for energy, well-being&healt, environment and information communication technology. The study of physical and chemical properties of solid, liquid, and gas phase systems is pursued through the synergy of theoretical/computational approaches and experimental methods, with the use of cutting-edge large facilities instrumentations open to research and industry communities.
