CNU North Texas is a regional chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, a national organization dedicated to building more walkable, sustainable, and inclusive communities.
We bring together urban planners, architects, developers, policymakers, academics, and engaged citizens to advance the principles of good urbanism across the North Central Texas region. Our focus is on thoughtful growth, smart infill, transit-oriented development, and reimagining infrastructure to better serve people—not just cars.
At CNU North Texas, we advocate for local public policy reforms, host community tours, hard-hat site visits, panels, and networking events, and provide resources for professionals and laypeople alike who are passionate about shaping better places. We believe New Urbanist principles are essential to addressing some of our most pressing regional challenges: housing affordability, economic opportunity, social equity, climate resilience, and neighborhood vitality.
Guided by the Charter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, we believe:
Neighborhoods should be diverse in use and population
Streets and public spaces should prioritize pedestrians and transit
Cities and towns should be physically defined by accessible, shared places
Design should reflect local history, climate, and context
Our work aligns with CNU’s national strategic goals—including Sustainability, Transportation, Regionalism, Affordability, Financing and Entitlements, and Accessibility.
