Coast Mountain Hydro

Coast Mountain Hydro is an award-winning [2019 Clean Energy BC (CEBC) award for Operational Excellence recipient] run-of-the-river hydroelectric project – comprising the Forrest Kerr (Naduthlen Ramparts of Iskut), McLymont (Dzel Tsidege Tahosjan – Steep Mountain), and Volcano Creek (Tu’Dek’ Al – White Water) Hydroelectric Facilities. Each of the three facilities was given a Tahltan name by Tahltan Elders in 2015. Coast Mountain Hydro is in Northwestern British Columbia, with the Coast Mountain Range to the west and Skeena mountains to the east. Our facilities are approximately 100km from the town of Stewart and within the Golden Triangle in Tahltan Territory. Coast Mountain Hydro is owned by Axium Infrastructure, Manulife, TriSummit Utilities and the Tahltan Nation and we proudly acknowledge that our facilities are in Tahltan Territory. With two active mines nearby, there was an estimated $360M of mining expenditures in the Northwest throughout 2021. Our three facilities generate roughly 300MW of energy at maximum output, providing a source of clean power to local Tahltan communities and to the exploration and mining industry.
