The scope of research services at the Coastal and Port Infrastructure Laboratory includes three areas:
Applied Research includes research activities in coastal areas such as changes in coastline, reclamation, sedimentation and dredging, erosion, abrasion, dredging, scouring of bridge pillars, tides, tsunamis, marine pollution, artificial coral reef applications, coastal area planning, and others.
Field Survey and Laboratory Testing includes soil investigation, feasibility studies, topographic and bathymetric surveys, hydro-oceanographic surveys (tides, waves, currents, water quality, and others).
Technical Consultation includes technical planning and detailed design work for coastal structures, including master plans for ports, docks, groins, seawalls, bulkheads, jetties, breakwaters, as well as studies related to coastal cells, changes in coastline, marine pollution, coastal and shore management, coastal vulnerability index, and others.
