Coca-Cola Coastal Bottlers Ltd

Coastal Bottlers is one of Coca-Cola’s oldest bottlers in Kenya, having started operations in 1962 as a small company in Mombasa Old town that delivered beverages to the colonial community at the Coast of Kenya. In 2008, the company moved base to a new state of the art facility in Mtwapa, Kilifi County following a surge in business growth and put up a grass root project with a new state of the art returnable glass bottling (RGB) line of 40,000 bottles/ hour capacity. In the year 2011, CBL expanded by adding a Canning line; the only canning line in entire East and Central Africa to date. The capacity of this line is 30,000 cans/ hour. The company has been able to explore export markets in Sub Saharan Africa and caters to niche customers viz. Kenya Airways and NAS to name but a few. In 2016, a new PET (plastic bottles) line of 26,000 bottles/ hour capacity was added to cater for the growing demands for convenience packs. This packaging is growing at a faster rate than the other pack options viz. glass and aluminum cans. The plant is ISO certified and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified. Due to a good quality score of 100%, the company won a Gold Award from Coca Cola. Furthermore, due to a good track record on Health, Safety, Environment, Community Service (CSR activities) and sustainability, the company is chosen for a prestigious award in Eurasia and Africa region.
