We are addressing two simultaneous problems:
1) Women are impacted by domestic violence long after leaving and most are in a dire financial situation afterwards.
2) The low rates of women in tech jobs and tech degrees.
Code to Success Inc (CTS) is a program being designed to enable, empower and emancipate through equipping women with practical skills to run their own business (with their first client from local businesses), train with ICT businesses (if they prefer other aspects of ICT such as backend development or networking) and have the option to pursue further study in an ICT/STEM degree.
Technology is integral and permeates everything that Code to Success INC is.
Most importantly, the Code to Success program is being designed to be successfully completed. Which means, our program will be delivered face-to-face, projects are practical and will form a portfolio and generate money for the participants, it will be in a group setting with others who share a similar lived experience as well as a strong focus on building and coaching in essential soft skills which can be absent in women who have lived through abuse.
We are seeking other women from industry and academia to instruct and create a professional network. We are seeking sponsors in the workplaces to guide and plan a progression pathway amongst other elements. We are working with Social Workers to identify women who will benefit most from this program.
We are fervent in our model to collaborate and welcome partnerships with other businesses, NFP's and governments to add to our program what works, and to not just get women back on their feet after leaving domestic violence, but to give them every chance to thrive. The economic, social and cultural benefits are multiplicative an enormous and we offer a way for everyone to be a part of the solution, and in the process, create a better outcome for all.
