Codofil - Council For The Development Of French In Louisiana company information, Employees & Contact Information

CODOFIL — the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana — is the first and only state agency in the United States with a mandate to support the French language. We lead the nation as the sole public agency fully dedicated to the development of French and Louisiana’s heritage languages. With a statewide reach, international partnerships, and a deep-rooted commitment to community, CODOFIL works to ensure that French remains a living language of opportunity in Louisiana. For over 50 years, we have held a unique role in American public life: championing French where it was first born in the United States. Since 1968, we’ve served as the backbone of Louisiana’s French-language revival. Our longevity, institutional experience, and legislative foundation position us to deliver impactful, sustainable programs that support the state’s cultural, educational, and economic future. Our mission is grounded in four key pillars: • French immersion education in public schools across Louisiana • Scholarships and international exchanges for students and educators • Community and cultural programming rooted in local identity • Economic development that leverages language for tourism, business, and workforce growth From the bayous to the Capitol, from rural parishes to growing cities, CODOFIL amplifies Louisiana’s living francophone cultures — diverse, dynamic, and deeply rooted in place. We don’t just celebrate heritage — we build the infrastructure that sustains it. Every program we lead, every educator we support, and every partnership we cultivate is part of a long-term vision: a Louisiana where French is not just remembered, but lived. Because in Louisiana, French isn’t foreign — it’s family. Learn more at www.codofil.org.
