CoE AWRDS

The Centre of Excellence on Aerial and Water Robotics for Development and Sustainability (CoE-AWrDS) is a pioneering initiative focused on leveraging robotics innovation to address pressing sustainability and development challenges. Launched in 2024 as a joint collaboration between IIIT-Delhi, ISB, and DRIIV (a DST initiative), CoE-AWrDS brings together academia, industry, and policy to co-create impactful, scalable, and cost-effective solutions using aerial and underwater robotics. We aim to build a vibrant ecosystem supporting research, education, deployment, and entrepreneurship in drone and marine robotics. Our mission spans across key sectors including agriculture, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and marine systems. What We Do: Capacity Building: Through bootcamps, workshops, and hands-on training (e.g., Udaan Drone Workshop), we empower the next generation of roboticists. Expert Consultancy: Guiding real-world deployment of robotic systems in environmental and developmental use-cases. Knowledge Exchange: Hosting panels, talks, and conferences to build multi-sector dialogue on robotics and sustainability. Sustainability Assessment: Evaluating robotics projects to ensure measurable societal and environmental impact. Our vision is to become a global leader in sustainable robotics research and deployment, transforming lives through technology that works on land, in water, and in the air.
