Why do so many people think that Collaboration = Technology? We, at Collabogence, believe that getting better at Collaborating makes a direct contribution to strengthening a company’s market position, their top line and ultimately their profitability. The arrival of new tools during the last 10 years has changed what is possible. The question is, have our people and our processes kept up? How well are we doing? Collaborating is not only about what happens internally, but now stretches out beyond our own business and firewall and includes how we work with our suppliers, partners, channels, customers and end-users. Have we improved how we collaborate? How good are our people, processes and tools? Are we doing what we should be doing and using our tools as they should be? Why do so many people complain? And why is there so much “ShelfWare”? Contrary to popular belief, collaboration does not equal communication, nor does it equal technology. Our quest is how best to measure an organization's ability to balance not only the people, processess and tools, but also how the culture, sharing and openness of an organization is interwoven with these to determine their collective ability to collaborate.
