Common Affairs creates uncommon architecture for daily life. We create striking buildings and places that every person can make their own. With room for individual and collective; for similarity and difference. We work from the conviction that good design strikes a balance between vision, imagination and functionality. This is reflected in the stratification of our work. We weigh up interests and challenge. What we make is as surprising as it is familiar. It makes sense and stands out. We find that balance by building on what is already there; by adding something to the story of an environment. We ensure that striking buildings are not just different, but distinctive. That surprising spaces don't just feel new, but fall into place. We have a rich history of projects and years of experience in urban planning and architecture. Common Affairs was founded in 2016 and emerged from Soeters Van Eldonk architects and Het Keizerrijk architects. The office is led by Berend Hoffmann and Jos van Eldonk and has around 20 employees. Our office is located in the former warehouse Loods 6, on Amsterdam's IJ River.
