Complexity Worker

Hello, I'm Richard Cowling, and I'm a high-agency, delivery focussed, complexity and change navigating professional. Tons of experience, constantly learning and reflecting, problem-solving, enabling problem-solving, decision-making and enabling decision-making, innovation, risk-mitigation, value-optimisation, creativity, … teams, and team-work … leadership … and delivering product outcomes and value across large and complex programmes of work. I’ve worked in many ‘business domains’ over the years, ranging from healthcare to financial services, and others, including an airline, an e-commerce package holiday operator, a global CRA, a commodities trading firm … I’ve worked on national scale healthcare programmes of work - multiple times. I deeply enjoyed my time working amongst it all on the No 1. market leading primary care information system - supplied by the NHS’s biggest, probably, information system supplier. Most recently, I got stuck into digital delivery, as a consultant, “parachuted in” to the NHS as a response to the national emergency. Standing on the shoulders of the giants who initially set it all up - I helped to continue the NHS’s digital response to the COVID pandemic. Problem-solving and ‘delivery managing’ the flow of data from ‘jabs-in-arms’ to ‘national immunity monitoring’ services, and to ‘at-rest’ in every citizen's medical record. I’ve worked on a globally-deployed interbank foreign exchange dealing room trading system, the No.1 system connecting all the world’s banks in the currency markets - to later return to this, and prove its renewal and performance as a highly available, high-throughput, low latency “trading host” - as it grew into an automated matching system driving multi-trillion dollar trading days. I have returned to through-put time and time again; seeking low-latency and managing through-put are a running theme in my career; And I know team-work, and people are everything. It's all teams.
