Artist-run space in Oak Park committed to collaboration, community activation, and creative inquiry. Founded by Laura Shaeffer, Compound Yellow is a non-profit 501(c)(3) experimental art space with curatorial focus in cultural production, sharing economies, participatory art, and interdisciplinary explorations. Comprised of a group of artists, curators, educators, parents and engaged citizens, Compound Yellow hosts exhibitions, interventions, performances, workshops, lectures, gatherings, and collective imagining. We want to celebrate a culture of sharing, connecting and collective action! We'd love to hear from you.
Compound Yellow is run by a generous, collaborative group of local volunteers. We are always happy to accept help and participation whether through facility maintenance, installation assistance, event management, or public communications. If you’d like to volunteer please don’t hesitate to reach out. We want to make space for subversive acts, courage, vulnerability, care for self and other, acts of generosity, sharing economies, anti-competition and we want to acknowledge, support and work alongside all who have fought and continue to fight for human rights for all.
