Comprehensive Community Services

Through the medium of community, the mission of Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) is to provide resources to marginalized and impoverished communities so that all their members can flourish. According to research by David Brooks and the Aspen Institute, our country is suffering from extreme hyper-individualism. This has led to increases in ailments such as depression, substance abuse, and suicide. Brooks describes our collective pain as, “our lack of healthy connection to each other, our inability to see the full dignity of each other, and the resulting culture of fear, distrust, tribalism, shaming and strife.” It is our observation that these effects of fear, distrust, shame, and strife are most prevalent in those living at the margins of our society and add to their struggle in moving from one economic class to the next. CCS’s unique approach, therefore, is to empower marginalized people to forge their own destinies by combining traditional development resources with deep connection and community.
