The world we live in today owes a lot to concrete. Most of our infrastructure, including bridges, viaducts, buildings, dams, tunnels, reservoirs is constructed in reinforced or prestressed concrete. Construction, including structural design, calculations and execution, and maintenance of these structures is covered by the field of Concrete Structures.
The mission of the Concrete Structures Section is to perform the research directly serving societal challenges. We identify two main challenges, how to maintain and deal with the existing structures, and how to keep up with the recent developments and apply innovative concretes in structures in a safe and sustainable way.
