Conscious Kitchens has been born out of my experience and passion, this is the place where food safety meets (combating) food waste! I have worked as an EHO for more than 10 years internationally. During this time I saw immense fear in people when it comes to inspection time. There is always a perception that the inspector ‘has to find something wrong’. This is never how I did my job nor do I agree with others who work like this. It is time to dispel these myths and shatter the stereo-type of what happens when the inspector calls. I want food businesses to feel empowered and fearless when it comes to inspection time. On the other side of things I would witness vast amounts of food waste going in the bin with each inspection I carried out. Whether it is waste created in the kitchen or plate waste that comes back to be binned. The volume is extraordinary. I believe we can do better and this must change.
