The Consumer Code for Home Builders exists to make the home buying process fair and more transparent for purchasers. It sets out 19 requirements home builders covered by the Code must meet when selling new build homes.
The Code is supported by the four main warranty providers - Checkmate, LABC Warranty, Premier Guarantee and NHBC - who between them cover the majority of new homes built in the UK to date.
In the event of a dispute, The Code provides free access for consumers to an Independent Dispute Resolution Scheme, operated completely independently of the Code by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution.
The Consumer Code is approved by the CTSI Consumer Codes Approval Scheme.
