Conversational Culture

There is a growing expectation that faith-based organisations who work with young people should be more accountable for the nature and quality of the pastoral care they provide to young people. Navigating the threat of litigation and the danger of being publicly ‘cancelled’ makes responding to cultural developments complex and risky. But teenagers need to see a faith that engages with their cultural context in a positive and life-giving way. Today's young people are looking for compassionate and wise responses to the big topics that they’re concerned about. If we don't engage them in conversations that are respectful and relevant, these issues very easily become faith blockers. That’s why creating a space for positive dialogue is so important. Conversational Culture is all about equipping your team with the conversational frameworks and resources they need to lead conversations that are healthy and safe. It’s important to know when and how to engage, redirect or exit certain conversations. We train staff and volunteers to recognise what the most appropriate response to a given question or topic should be, ensuring they are aware of pastoral care best practice.
