Cor Defense

We are a trauma-informed nonprofit that trains survivors/victims of sexual assault in Krav Maga. To get started, let's answer some questions: Why Krav Maga? Krav Maga is a practical system which teaches how to prevent, respond to, and overcome different types of violence and attacks. It uses instinctive and natural body movement, repetition, and muscle memory which makes it easy to learn, retain, and use in stressful circumstances. Why "Cor Defense" and not "Cor Self Defense" - this might be a question for another day, however the quick answer is - a survivor/victim of assault does not need to know self-defense to prevent future attacks. That is not why they were attacked in the first place. They were attacked because an (evil) person chose to attack. If we want to stop sexual assault, the problem is not the victim/survivor, the problem is the attacker. By calling it self-defense, many survivors/victims blame themselves by saying that it was their responsibility to know these techniques. False. The survivor/victim is never to blame. So, then why train at all? I could speak on this for hours! The short & sweet answer is this: the most damaging part about trauma is the loss of control, so the most healing thing you can do for yourself is gain control back. You can do this in a variety of beautiful ways that meet your specific needs: gain control over your body by learning a new skill, such as dancing or playing an instrument, gain control over through coaching in emotional intelligence with a therapist or counselor. Or, you can gain a sense of control over your environment through defense training. Welcome to Cor Defense!
