Coral Academy is an outreach programme lead by Dr. Apple Chui, a research assistant professor from the School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with the following objectives:
To enhance public awareness and knowledge of the rich marine biodiversity of Hong Kong, with a special focus on coral communities and conservation through seminars, coral workshops and lab visits.
To establish a connection between participants and local corals through a first-hand experience of nurturing coral fragments to be used in local coral restoration works.
To promote individual behavioural and lifestyle changes to protect the marine environment.
