Core Plus is a 2-year manufacturing curriculum created by industry for high school shop classrooms in Washington. The program was created by the Manufacturing Industrial Council, OSPI and the Boeing Company. Core Plus is implemented in 60 locations, providing ongoing professional development to instructors throughout the year.
Through Core Plus, students are learning careers they can pursue immediately upon leaving high school, or while in high school. Students are not only developing technical skills desperately desired by employers, they are also getting exposed to technical certificates and community college programs, local businesses and HR reps, and different types of apprenticeships.
