Founded in 2021, the Cornell Emerging Markets Institute Club (EMIC) is a student-led organisation affiliated with the Emerging Markets Institute at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. EMIC is dedicated to fostering undergraduate research on the evolving role of emerging markets in the global economy, with a focus on analytical rigour and scholarly contribution.
Our mission is to cultivate a community of students passionate about investigating the economic, social, and political dynamics of emerging economies and their multinational enterprises. Rather than centring on business-oriented activities, EMIC prioritises the development of research skills—equipping members with the tools to conduct independent studies, engage in collaborative projects, and contribute to the academic discourse on emerging markets.
Through workshops, faculty-led seminars, and peer-reviewed research initiatives, members are encouraged to produce publishable work and critically engage with contemporary challenges facing emerging economies. EMIC serves as an incubator for future scholars and practitioners seeking to make meaningful contributions to the field of global development and international economic research.
