Cornerstone India Foundation is focused on education and presently running a School and Therapeutic Centre for Differently Abled Children for the last two years with the following objectives:- • Dignified inclusion of PWDs in the main stream society • Give them a meaningful and dignified life • Provide best care and support to PWDs and caregivers • To develop PWDs as future human resources • Supporting families of PWDs to cope up with the situation of handling a person with disability • Helping society to change their attitude towards PWDs from sympathy to empathy • Creating a happy and joyful environment • Helping PWDs to realize their full potential and to work towards it. Some of the activities we have been performing: • Parent Support Group- To bring parents facing similar issues and problem in raising up differently abled child to a common platform to share and encourage each other (UNITED WE STAND) • Early Intervention Centre- for children below 12 yrs • Special Tuition Centre- for differently abled children going to inclusive schools • One Window solution to all the needs of differently abled children and adult like OT/PT, speech etc • Becoming the voice of this group • To sensitize schools, teachers, students and parents toward the need of the group • To provide a forum to differently abled to express and explore the possibilities for them to grow and be a resource for the society • To start a vocational training centre for differently abled and to make them self-reliant • To have a dedicated sports academy for differently abled children to train and nurture them for various National and International competition • To start a child help line and counselling Centre for Greater Noida Our Centre The Centre provides services to children suffering from Mental retardation, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. We care for our Children by providing • A peaceful, homely and calm environment • Screening of children with disabilities • Developing a screening tool • Intervention ground clearance from parents-counselling • Assessment • Referrals • Specially trained health educator • Physiotherapist • Speech therapist • Occupational Therapist • Martial Art activities • Music and dance • Art sessions • Books and toys • Facilities for sports and games • Pre-Vocational training • Early stimulation activities, regular parent training sessions and regular teacher interaction • Participation in various events • Visiting faculties from other countries Research Understanding the need to keep abreast of time, research on contemporary issues related to children with disability and their families. Some important issues undertaken are • Creating a child help line • Conducting seminars and workshops for various target audience on relevant issues • Setting up a counselling Centre Our Uniqueness Parent support group was initiated to address the needs of the families with PWDs and to empower them with information on key development in this area. This is done by • Conducting monthly group discussions and workshops • Providing support and guidance to caregivers • Encouraging them to share their pain and gain stories with other parents in the group • Counselling on child specific issues.
