The Corn Islands Virtual Library

The Corn Islands Virtual Library is a community-driven initiative committed to the preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical heritage of the Corn Islands, situated in the Caribbean region of Nicaragua. Its work encompasses research, archival compilation, educational events, the development of communication materials, and collaborative efforts with academic and cultural institutions. Established on 19 August 2021, the project was officially launched across digital platforms and social media on 1 May 2023. On 27 June 2025, the initiative expanded with the introduction of The Corn Islands Virtual Museum, an extension of the Virtual Library that hosts a series of curated exhibitions highlighting the precolonial, colonial, and postcolonial history of the islands. The project is financed and managed by the STS Initiative, an independent platform that fosters community-based actions in the areas of culture, education, the arts, and environmental sustainability.
