We're a small charity making a series of 30-minute documentaries about various aspects of climate change in Cornwall - showing not just the impacts but also positive actions that local businesses, communities and individuals are taking to try to tackle it.
Cornwall Council has declared a climate emergency and wants us to get to carbon neutral by 2030, but that's a hugely ambitious goal that we won't reach without widespread buy-in and support.
We want to use our films to reach communities all over Cornwall, unengaged audiences, and particularly schools, by creating dedicated educational materials to be used by teachers alongside the films in subjects across the curriculum - not just Science and Geography, but also English, Art, PSHE, Media Studies etc.
Climate change will overshadow the lives of all today's young people, but according to surveys by the campaign group Teach the Future less than 4% of them know a lot about climate change and 75% of teachers say they have haven't been adequately trained to teach about it.
We strongly believe that, in order to help young people become part of the solution, we need to engage them by teaching them the reality about climate change in the place where they live - not just case studies from the Arctic or Bangladesh.
