CosmoLyon a été créée en 2003 (sous le nom de Cosmopolitan Lyon Club), et accueille les jeunes de tous les campus avec plus d'une centaine événements par an. Des action de sensibilisation aux questions de mobilité internationale sont également menées auprès des locaux. Depuis 2006, l'association fait partie d'ESN (Erasmus Student Network), un réseau d’associations d’accueil des jeunes par les jeunes, lancée avec le soutien de la Commission Européenne en 1989.
