The Covington Police Department was commissioned in 1883 and is Northern Kentucky's largest law enforcement organization with 114 sworn positions and 140 total positions. Our services include traditional patrol operations, bike patrol, K-9 unit, criminal investigation (CIB), child crimes (DART), narcotics investigation (D-Team), Housing Authority unit, traffic unit, and community outreach. Our civilian units include the Crime Lab, the Computer Forensic Analyst, and the Records Bureau. We also employ several part-time police cadets for parking enforcement and several Devou Park Rangers for park security.
