In 1946, Russell M. Cox, began his construction career with the purchase of a used crusher and set up operations in Hillsburgh. Shortly after Cox Construction was founded.
It was not long before Cox Construction Company broke into the mainstream of the construction industry. Before the end of the first year, Cox was awarded its first Department of Highways contract on Highway 24 outside Guelph. To secure the building and establishment of a firm company foundation, Cox spent its first years working predominately in Northern Ontario.
After operating successfully as a gravel contractor, Mr. Cox became alert to the growing asphalt industry. To equip the company in this field, Cox Construction Company erected, in 1953, its first Portable Hot Mix Asphalt Plant on Highway 26 east of Stayner. The following year, Cox located its headquarters in Guelph.
Cox Construction Limited has completed hundreds of major contracts and has worked for private individuals, general contractors, townships, counties,cities and the province of Ontario. Many of our projects have helped to build the roadway infrastructure we use today.
