CraftNetwork is a commercial social enterprise that provides a fair living wage to its member producers, while also connecting buyers with artisans through the utilization of technology and sustainable business practices that contribute to the social good. CraftNetwork provides export facilitation and enterprise development services to its member producers to increase sales, strengthen ethical trading practices, build organizational capacity, and generate employment.
Craft Network initially began as the Handicrafts Export Promotion Program (“HEPP”), managed by the International Finance Corporation Program for Eastern Indonesia Small and Medium Enterprise Assistance (“IFC-PENSA”), and was later supported by the IFC’s Grassroots Business Initiative (“IFC-GBI”) and World Bank Group. In October 2006, IFC-PENSA and IFC-GBI entered into a strategic partnership to transition the initiative, re-branded as Craft Network, to Sourcing Indonesia. The resulting transition plan agreed upon markers and deliverables for Sourcing Indonesia to develop and manage Craft Network during a set trial period and followed subsequent funding and support.
